Today at maths we did some measuring .We measured from mm to cm to m.Then we went outside with some chalk and a book about animals.Firstly we looked up on the book how big a nile crocodile was. It is 6m long! 4 room 9 children could lie down next to the line and still not be long enough. Here are some photos from our other animal lengths.

Alliteration!
For the rest of the term we are looking at poetry!
Today we have been learning about alliteration.
Here are 3 fantastic alliteration poems by Mary, Dylan and Tara.
Can you guess who wrote each one?
Mary mangled mounds of mushrooms mixed in mischievous mimics of mangled meat.
DJ Duck does dingo distress dying dumb
Tara the ticking tortoise tucked under a Tyrannosaurus Rex

Our Grass Seed Heads
This term in Room 9 we are doing an inquiry on plants. We have been looking at the process that a plant goes through from seed to plant. We thought we would make ourselves some plant friends
Meet our friendly grass seed heads.

Our Art
Currently we are looking at how to blend colours to add depth and tone to our work. We have drawn flowers in a vase using pastel on black paper. We had to blend our colours to make it look more interesting.
Miss Dippie thinks all our art looks amazing. She had chosen Charlie as the art star for the week because he tried his best and has created his best art of the year! Well done to all of Room 9.

Financial Literacy
Holly showed us different kinds of money and taught us the word currency. Currency means money from different countries.
She showed us how an eftpos card works. We know that the eftpos card talks to the bank and see if you have the money and then the money to the shop's bank.
Holly taught us 'spend some on you, and save some too!' so that we learn how to save some money for later on, like if we wanted to buy something that was expensive, like a new scooter.

Room 9 and the Beanstalk - Day 11
In Room 9 our beans are beginning to grow. The Year 3 Boys bean has started to grow up through the soil and we can see a stalk and a leaf. We know that under the soil, the roots will be starting to grow down. Our other beans will be germinating, and a root may be growing out. Hopefully the other beans will start to show soon.

Mustard Plant Discussion
We want to know, what would happen if we put the two mustard plants that haven't had sunlight, into the sunlight, if they will change.
15 people think they will change
and 2 people think they won't.
We will keep watch over the next 2 weeks and see if any changes happen.

Mustard Plant Update 2 June
We wanted to know which of our mustard seeds would
grow the best.
We put one on the window sill, one in the shade in the
classroom and one in the art cupboard.
Results:
They all grew, but the one on the window sill grew best
and looks the healthiest. It is all green and leafy.
The one in the shade is lighter green and has long white
stems.
The one in the art cupboard is all white. The stems are
longest out of all the plants and the leaves are tiny and
yellow.
